Ideas
NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH
- Start with meeting or
getting re-acquainted with all of your neighbors.
- Knock on all the doors and introduce yourself. A good ice breaker would be to tell them you are making a neighborhood directory and would they like to be included (be sure to follow up with doing this). Ask how long they have lived in their home as a conversation starter.
- Take a walk through the neighborhood and make a point to engage people you see in conversation.
- Look for opportunities to do something nice for your
neighbors.
- Recognize “Good Neighbor Day” on the fourth Sunday in September with a homemade gift.
- Offer to get a neighbors mail or newspaper if they go out of town.
- Pull in the trash cans for a neighbor on trash day.
- Have a neighborhood block party.
- Be an ear to listen to lonely people in your neighborhood.
- Offer to pray for the sick.
- After you have established a relationship, look for
opportunities to share the gospel.
- Start a bible study group. Design the group so that it is open to anyone and questions are encouraged.
- Start a seeker friendly group. Show an ALPHA video. Read the book Purpose Driven Life with your neighbors. Meet to discuss any questions.
- Start a social group (ie. Bunko, Book Club, Basketball). These types of groups can lead to opportunities for closer friendships.
